The TDRP finances or co-finances demobilization and reintegration operations that have identified funding shortfalls.
The Program funds two types of operations:
- Existing projects financed through through IDA, single country trust funds or both, but have a funding gap;
- New projects. These remain small-scale compared to regular D&R operations.
In the first category (existing projects), the TDRP is contributing $4.5 million to the Rwanda Demobilization and Reintegration Program.
In the second category (new projects), the TDRP is financing an $8.6 million community reintegration project in the Central African Republic. Implementation is set to start in early 2011.
The following types of activities are eligible for financing:
- demobilization
- reinsertion
- reintegration
- support to special groups
- complementary community activities
- program management and implementation.
D&R operations are executed by the respective governments or an agency designated by that government.
