In early 2011, the TDRP has approved a grant of $8.6 million to the Central African Republic for a Community Reintegration project. The project covers three northern provinces and targets primarily youth and youth at risk of violence. Four international NGOs have been contracted to implement the activities, which will focus largely on support to agricultural activities.

Previous DDR program in CAR

From 2004 to 2007, a $9.7 million DDR project (the PRAC: Programme de réinsertion des ex-combattants et d’appui aux communautés), financed by the MDRP, was implemented by UNDP.

The program reached 100% of its target, demobilizing more than 7,500 ex-combatants and providing them reintegration support. However the operation also suffered from many shortcomings.
