The Transitional Demobilization and Reintegration Program is a multi-donor initiative to support the return of ex-combatants to civilian life in the African Great Lakes region.

The TDRP is a four-year program (2009-2013) financed by a multi-donor trust fund of US$30.8 million.

The TDRP follows in the footsteps of the larger regional DDR effort in the Great Lakes that was the MDRP: the Multi-country Demobilization and Reintegration Program.

Some MDRP partners wanted to maintain a facility that would allow them to meet and exchange on DDR regionally, as well as continue to finance DDR efforts where needed, albeit on a smaller scale than in the MDRP.
